Why Nihongo?
Why choose to study Japanese? Well, personally I've always had a real interest in Japanese culture. Obviously, that includes things such as animes and video games but I do have a genuine interest int he culture in general. I am actually quite interested in different ways of living around the world and Japan is the first non-western culture that I have studied. Apart from just my general interest in Japan I am also doing a concentration in linguistics and Japanese is fulfilling my language requirement for it. So far, it has given me a very different and much more difficult challenge than any of the other languages I have studies. Its complete difference in every sense from English has really been a curve ball for me and, honestly, I have struggled with it for these first few weeks. Everything from learning the script to the function of particles has been a challenge but I am enjoying it and look forward to continuing the study of Japanese.

Linguistics major is cool! What other languages have you learned and how is learning Japanese different?
ReplyDeleteWhen we are learning foreign languages, we may have many questions about it.
ReplyDeleteFor me, when I start learning English, I can't understand why English have to add "s".lol
あれわおもしろいです。I think it is strange that there are no "s"'s (or rather s's that function that way) for plurality. でもあれが好きです。まだ私があまりくありませんso I could be wrong.
ReplyDeleteルビーさん、わたしはスペインごとエイごがよくあります。そしてドイツごとCatalan(?)がだいたいわかります。
